Book Awards
A great way to develop reading interests and to read new exciting authors is to have a look at the many children’s book awards that are now up and running in the UK. Many of the book award websites provide top tips on reading and encourage students to write reviews, enter competitions and activities. We would recommend you take a look. At Canon Slade we participate in the Bolton Children’s Fiction Award and shadow the Carnegie Medal. Students meet regularly to discuss the books and vote for their favourites. We always look forward to meeting the authors shortlisted for the Bolton Book Award in June.
