Introducing Careers at Canon Slade
At Canon Slade our aim is to help all students to achieve their full potential. In line with the Gatsby Benchmarks our careers advice and guidance is designed to help pupils develop the knowledge and skills they need to make informed and successful choices. Wherever an individual’s talents or interests lie we endeavor to nurture every student so that they can follow their dream and maximise their potential
We measure the impact of our careers provision on students by monitoring and evaluating the quality of our activities and how we deliver them. We take and value feedback from students, parents, staff and our external providers and we analyse the destinations of our students. We also use the Compass report and the Quality in Careers Standard to continually improve. All of these inform our future planning.
Students from Years 7 – 11 follow the STEPS Careers Programme. STEPs are a series of individual student workbooks which take students through the stages of career planning from year 7, right through to planning post-16 options. The workbooks are progressive and are relevant to each year group. They cover a range of issues to help students to understand more about themselves, find out about careers and the world of work, and help them to plan for their future.
