This year we had seventeen entries in our annual cake bake off. The cakes were judged by Mrs Teasdale, Food Technology and Mrs Wilcock, Catering Manager.
“The students had the theme of a book character or book title and the standard of design was outstanding.” Mrs Teasdale.
Prizes were given to each year group with the overall winner Ruby Kay Year 9. Winners include; Bethan Sanders Year 8 and Phoebe Mitchell, Violet Jones as year 7 winners. Highly commended James Dodge, Elise Fairclough and Alexandra Redfern Year 7. Traditionally the cakes are sold at break the following day and this year we raised £113.00 for Book Aid International.
Throughout the day students took part in ‘Find the book character’ competition and had to find staff members wearing book character badges. Staff had the option to dress up and many departments had a book theme such as Modern Foreign Languages and dressed as characters from the David Walliams book ‘Midnight Gang.’ ‘Guess the name of the teacher behind the book’ and book quotes around school and the Book Themed Lunch also added to the buzz of the day A fabulous World Book Day at Canon Slade!
