World Book Day 2021

This year our celebrations were quieter and not the usual with our staff dress up or huge cake sale. However, the school celebrated the day of reading by the whole school listening to chapters read by staff from Anthony Horowitz’s short story ‘A career in computer games.’

Comments from students;

  1. Orrell

“I liked that you can read different types of books you don’t normally read.”

  1. Howe

“I liked that we could still read a book together even though were all at home.”

  1. Hobson

“It was so interesting and I really enjoyed the story.”

  1. Ormrod

“I loved the story. It was a story full of suspense.”

‘Decorate a book themed cake’ competition had to be held at home this year and those that took part looked like they enjoyed the bake.  Jessica Taylor 7R won a £10.00 book token with runner up Connie Alvarez 7C a £5.00 book token.  All students who entered received a free book as a gift from the library.

We also participated in the distribution of the World Book Day token, sponsored by National Book Tokens, for students to collect a free book, when permitted, from bookshops and superstores.
