Dear Parent/Carer

We are pleased to inform you that library has organised a Book Fair to come into school Monday 25th September – Friday 29th September.
The book fair will be provided by the book supplier Scholastic Book Fairs with a variety of fiction titles and new book titles available for students to buy. There are over 200 titles with prices starting from only £2.99, there’s sure to be a book for everyone.

Please find attached a leaflet with some examples of the variety of books available to purchase. Students will have the opportunity to visit the book fair during the day through arrangements with class teachers and also individually during break and lunchtimes.

For your information parents and carers can purchase Gift Vouchers from http://www.bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/parents I hope your child enjoys visiting the book fair and for your information the library receives a commission on the books sold which helps to purchase new books for everyone. National Poetry Day

is Thursday 28th September and we are delighted to welcome Donovan Christopher, one of the UK’s most exciting multicultural poets! Key Stage 3 will meet Donovan in the chapel and will have the opportunity to create their own poems at the event.

Donavan Christopher, aka Rappaman, is a rap poet and cultural reggae artist. He tours schools around the world, offering interactive, fun and thought-provoking presentations and workshops geared towards motivating and inspiring students of all ages. Through R.A.P. (Respect All People) Poetry, Donavan facilitates a safe and intellectually challenging environment, encouraging students to think about their own views and opinions about important social issues, such as respect of self and others, tolerance, cultural diversity, and bullying

Competition time

Students can write a poem before the visit to win a signed copy of his book or a book from the book fair. There will be winners from each year group. Closing date for entries Tuesday 26th September. Entries to be taken to the library.

Books for sale – Donovan’s books will be on sale at lunchtime in the library. There is no obligation to buy however having a signed copy of a book is always something that is treasured. Donovan will sign Rappaman and Rappaman to the rescue at the event.
