Please note that if your son/daughter signs up to any of the sessions, they will need to inform their subject teacher if they are going to be absent from their lesson for a period of time.

About the week:

MYF: National Careers Week will host a series of exciting sessions to inspire young people about the different industries, roles and careers within GM and how they link to the subjects they are studying!

Each session will be accompanied with a ‘session card’ that will enable meaning virtual encounters that will highlight careers related to curriculum learning. Hosting at least three sessions per day, young people with have the opportunity to meet with and ask questions to a range of organisations across Greater Manchester.

Sessions for students

  • There are a number of different sessions per day for students including ‘Good Morning Greater Manchester ’ session (15 mins) to coincide with form time/first period, multiple virtual Q&A and Career Path and Labour Market Information sessions in the afternoon which are targeted at different key stage groups.
  • Each session will be held via Microsoft Teams. Sessions will be broadcast as a ‘live event’ so yourself/students will be able to see the presenters however presenters will not be able to see students. There will be a chat function monitored and moderated by a member of the GMCA team throughout the sessions for students/curriculum staff/careers leaders to submit questions to the presenters
  • Each virtual Q&A will contain some form of a pre-activity, including research of the organisations/industry/formation of questions, and activity for students to go complete afterwards, some of these will be linked to real life projects and curriculum areas. By students completing these activities it will ensure that they are having meaningful encounters with employers/experiences of the workplace.

We look forward to you joining us on the week!

Kind regards,

Bridge GM
