At the recent HSBC UK National Track Cycling Championships at the Manchester Velodrome – the home of British Cycling – two former Canon Slade pupils have picked up medals after riding superbly in a number of events.

Matthew and Tom Rotherham have continued their cycling programme by competing with great success at the championships.

They competed together as part of the Team Sprint event (over 750 metres), where they finished in second place securing the silver medal. In the 1000 metre time trail, Tom finished in silver medal position three hundredths of a second behind the first placed rider. In the Keirin event, Matthew just edged out Tom. Matthew came home in second place with Tom in third. Whilst yet to compete for their country, both riders are in the squad of Elite Cyclists being prepared by British Cycling for the future.

We wish them every success as they continue to impress those coaches and selectors who are aprt of British Cycling.
