Canon Slade students from the past, present and possibly the future gathered along with staff, parents, grandparents, Governors and Trustees at our Junior and Senior Carol Services at The Victoria Hall on 20th December.

After a heartfelt welcome from our wonderful host Revd. Barriball, the congregation enjoyed music, dance, readings, prayers and many carols with students from Years 7-13 and staff all fully involved. At both services, the first verse of Once in Royal David’s City was sung beautifully by a student solo and Revd. Lilley challenged us to think as well as to appreciate some seasonal humour.

The Christmas holidays were started after the traditional O Come All Ye Faithful during which a collection was taken to support The Victoria Hall and the Christian Aid Rohingya Crisis Appeal.

The Headteacher reminded us all to keep Christ at the centre of our Christmas as we are all ambassadors for Christ himself. It was wonderful to see so many former students at the Year 13 Awards Evening the previous evening and many of them came along to the service along with a host of Canon Slade families.

We were all blessed to have enjoyed such a moving and celebratory end of term as we enjoyed starting the celebrations and fun of Christmas together.

Thank you,

Mr David Burton
