Dear Parent / Carer

Bag2School – Wednesday 2nd May at 9am – Spring clear out!

If you do any spring cleaning in the next couple of months please bear this recycling opportunity in mind. The fundraising initiative at Canon Slade is run by a company that specialises in collecting good quality second hand clothing and bedding for re-use. Also, it gives you an opportunity to sort out your cupboards and wardrobes and diverts unwanted textiles away from landfills.

The school will benefit from the scheme as all the bags collected are weighed and school will receive £400 per tonne of goods collected. Canon Slade Association have arranged a collection for Wednesday 2nd May at 9.00am and ask that if you have any unwanted goods at home they could be sent into school with your son/daughter by then. Items can be left at the school office any time the week before, or brought to the Canon Slade Association meeting on April 24th. Also, if you only have a small number of items please ask your son or daughter to take them to their form room where there will be a bag for collection.

The goods which are suitable for collection are:

  • Men’s, Ladies and Children’s clothing
  • Paired shoes (tied together or elastic band around)
  • Handbags
  • Hats
  • Bags
  • Scarves and ties
  • Jewellery
  • Lingerie
  • Socks
  • Belts
  • Soft toys
  • Household linen, Curtains, Towels, Bedding (bed sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers)

However, the following items are NOT accepted: Duvets and blankets, Pillows and cushions, Carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats), Soiled, painted, ripped or wet clothing, School uniforms with and without logo, Corporate clothing and workwear, Textile off cuts, yarns or threaded material.
