From 1st December 2017, we have formed The Bishop Fraser Trust with St James’s Church of England High School to ensure all children experience ‘life in all its fullness’ and we are Co-Sponsoring Bolton St Catherine’s Academy from January 2018

Welcome to you from all at Canon Slade School.

Ofsted judge us to be an outstanding school in all categories and we also received an outstanding Church School Inspection report in December 2017.

Year 11 and 13 students have already started their exams this term and our Year 12 post-18 options evening was well attended. We are thrilled that so many Year 13 students hold offers from excellent universities and we will be working with them, along with all students, to achieve their targets in all subjects. Our links with universities includes Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard University, who visited last term to speak to students and parents. We have an excellent pastoral system for students and a dedicated programme for students wishing to pursue the most competitive courses at university. This enables our former students, who are now on those courses, to come back and help our current students.

Our 2017 students achieved excellent GCSE results with 90% in English and 89% in Maths at grade 4 or above and 84% achieved both English and Maths. More than 10% of all students achieved the new A** grade 9 in Maths.

Canon Slade Sixth Form students also achieved a string of A* and A grades at A Level to secure places at top universities including Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group universities to read subjects such as English, Maths, Dentistry, Law, Engineering and many others. Students wishing to join our outstanding Sixth Form should contact Dr Eves urgently at school.

Canon Maurice Smith CB, Diocesan Director of Education, and Pam Sleigh, Operations Officer at The Duke of Edinburgh Award, have visited us to present over sixty students with their awards. Our Gold Duke of Edinburgh candidates are on their expedition later this year and will soon be going to St. James’ Palace to collect their awards. Already this year we have had school trips to Paris, Italy and New York. This summer students will go to India with World Challenge, the Wimbledon Tennis Championships and take part in the National Citizen Service.

Please contact us if we can help you in any way and thank you for your interest in our school,

Mr D Burton MChem (Oxon.) PGCE NPQH
